However, fotoophout.nl sent me a photo on wood and asked me to write a review so I couldn’t say no to that! We have worked together before, when I reviewed a world map. Click here if you want to see the article (it’s written in Dutch).
To clear things out: I got the photo on wood for free in return for a review but I didn’t get paid to write this review so what I am going to tell you here, is my honest opinion.
The photo on wood I got, is 80 x 60 cm with whitewash treatment (to improve colors printed on wood) and suspension system. I got the kind of wood boards that are meant to hang inside.
Because my boyfriend’s dad is a photographer (click here if you want to go to his website, artifoto) and also takes a lot of pictures of my boyfriend and me, or only me, we already have a lot of pictures in our home. That’s why I decided to use this photo on wood as a birthday gift to my boyfriend’s dad. He could hang this photo in his photo studio to show his clients some of his work. I chose a picture of my boyfriend and me because I thought it was a bit weird to give him a picture of just me haha. Now, his son is also in the picture. He was super happy when he opened the package!
Here are the things we liked the most about the photo on wood:
- The photo turned out to be beautiful.
- As a gift this photo is really cool.
- The design is unique because it’s printed on wood.
- The delivery went perfectly, except that the deliverer just threw the package over the fence. That’s not really the company’s fault though. Luckily, no damage has been done.
- The packaging was nice and firm. This was necessary because of the previous bullet point haha.
What we disliked:
- The colors on the photo on wood are not exactly the same as the original picture but I still think it’s very beautiful. It’s probably not that easy to get the perfect colors on wood.
- It’s not a cheap gift (127,95 euros) but of course if you get a smaller size, it is cheaper.
- If you look at the picture up close, the lines between the wood boards are very visible but if you look from a bit farther away (which you do most of the time), it looks very nice.
Overall, I would definitely recommend the photo on wood, especially as a gift or just to decorate your house/dorm.
